| Hotel Grant Duchesne, Utah |
My great grandparents James and Susan Grant. They began their life together living in a home in American Fork, Utah. They later moved the family to Thurber, Utah (now Bicknell). James served as an early bishop of the Thurber ward and later left his young family to serve a mission for the church. Years later they moved the family again to the edge of the reservation in Duchesne County. For a while they lived at the stage coach stop in Indian canyon, between Castle Gate and Duchesne. Later again they moved into Duchesne where they built a hotel. The Hotel Grant is where they spent the rest of their lives. The Grants second child, Pearl married David Monroe Lee. My father Courtney Monroe Lee was born in the hotel in Duchesne.
The Grants had ten children, five of whom died soon after birth and one son was drowned during a flash flood. Three daughters and one son grew to adulthood.
